These are some of the inspirations behind a new line of abstract designs printed on Scaff Silk Linen called Abarbanel Plumridge, designed by California artist Joshua Abarbanel for Plumridge Silks. Abarbanel traverses his home state studying, drawing, and photographing the subtle details of the California landscape. Now he is teaming with Plumridge Silks to interpret the beauty and diversity of California’s many geographies—from sandy beaches and rocky points to surprisingly lively deserts and majestic mountain regions—in a new print line on Scaff Silk Linen.
With fabulous luster and body—and treated with fire retardant in the yarn state— Scaff Silk Linen will rival silk dupione for its variety of commercial applications.
The first three series in the Plumridge Abarbanel line are Big Sur, Joshua Tree, and Tahoe. Plumridge Abarbanel will initially offer nine prints per season, three per series. Plumridge, Inc. a California silk fabric company has been awarded distribution rights for SUNBRELLA brand fabrics.
Sunbrella is owned by Glen Raven and recently aquired Astrup CA.

Plumridge has great selection of unique silks (the best I could find on the internet – and I’m an internet shopper), the best service (Kit Plumridge emailed and called personally to help me – he sent me a design for drapes in my bedroom and consulted on the types of drapes fabric which I ordered through Plumridge). I was looking for a very specific color of iridescent silk (rosewood dupioni) and found exactly what I wanted. Didn’t think this type of service was still around. Highly recommended

Is anyone familiar with Beatrix Potter’s childrens book, “The Tailor of Gloucester”? I am looking for samples of the fabrics mentioned in this book and have found almost everything except the “cherry coloured, corded silk” used to make the Mayor’s wedding coat.
I have only found three corded silks on the Internet and they were not the right color.
Any idea if such a fabric and color is being made these days? The book was published in England in 1903, and the story takes place about one hundred years earlier.
Is there another fabric that could be used in place of the silk?

You are asking if there’s another fabric that could be used in place of the silk. I actually ordered a rug recently and I thought it was silk and it was actually polypropylene. Maybe you can try that…
